Laurence Hickmott is a dynamic leader with over 20 years of experience in the charitable and not-for-profit sectors. As the Founder and Director of Kestrel Consultancy, Laurence brings a wealth of expertise in charity leadership, strategic planning, income generation, and organisational development.
Before launching Kestrel Consultancy, Laurence served as Chief Executive Officer of Essex Recovery Foundation, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the organisation’s vision and impact. Prior to that, he was the driving force behind The Sports Trust, which he built from the ground up, growing it into a thriving organisation with a multi-million-pound portfolio and strong community partnerships. His leadership has consistently resulted in increased sustainability, strategic growth, and award-winning programmes.
Passionate about empowering charities to achieve their full potential, Laurence established Kestrel Consultancy to provide expert support to organisations striving to create lasting change. His approach is built on empathy, innovation, and practical solutions that deliver real impact. He understands the challenges that charities face - because he’s lived them - and he works alongside clients as a trusted partner, helping them navigate complexities and seize opportunities.
With a deep commitment to people, culture, and collaboration, Laurence believes that strong organisations start with strong teams. Whether supporting leadership development, securing vital funding, or crafting strategic roadmaps, he is dedicated to helping charities not only survive but thrive.
